SOU CamViz HDA provides a suite of tools to overlay composition guides, crop marks, and custom copnet overlays on a camera view in Houdini. It supports various guide types such as crosshair, rule of thirds, diagonals, grid, and padding, with controllable color and transparency (alpha). Additionally, it offers crop marks for common aspect ratios, a custom copnet overlay with resolution handling, and text overlays displaying useful scene information like $HIPNAME, opinputpath(".", 0) (camera’s name), $F4, $FPS, and frame range.

Note: this HDA will only work for Houdini versions 20.5+ since Copernicus got introduced in 20.5

Overview

This HDA is designed to assist artists in framing shots by providing visual guides directly in the viewport. The guides and overlays are highly customizable, allowing for adjustments in color, transparency, and positioning. The tool also includes automatic resolution handling for copnet overlays to prevent performance issues at extreme resolutions, as well as text scaling and padding controls for better readability.

All tools in this bundle feature a non-destructive modular system. You can use each tool independently or combine them to create unique effects. The plug-and-play logic allows you to apply them to a null, chain them together, and do whatever it takes to achieve your desired result.
